The day physics died

The radio campain for Sunshine on Virgin radio goes something like this:

"The biggest star in the solar system, the sun, is about to die"

And you know what? The sun is the largest star in the solar system

What Be Your Nerd Type?
Your Result: Drama Nerd

You sure do love the spotlight and probably have a very out-going and loud personality. Or not. That's just a stereotype, of course. Participation in the theatre is something to be very proud of. Whether you have a great voice for musicals, or astounding skills for dramas/comedies; keep up the good work. We need more entertainment these days that isn't television and video games (not that these things are bad, necessarily.)

What type of person do you attract?
Your Result: You attract geeks!

Your stunning intellect and love of sci-fi and video games allures the geeks like nothing else. Maybe it is the sparkle in your eye that makes them want to text you, who knows. Geeks make good partners, but tend to be arguementative. If you are a TRUE geek magnet, you will know if that was spelled correctly, and actually care. If it is a bad-boy/bad-girl you are seeking, you are barking up the wrong tree, unless they are just 'bad' behind a PS2 console.

You attract unstable people!
You attract Yuppies!
You attract artsy people!
You attract rednecks!
You attract models!

Lazy-ass-kid

The kid I am referring to in the title is obviously the (insert synonym for kid here [internal thesaurus is striking today]) in the AA advert.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the above it goes something like this:

Kid gets in car with headphones in ears (my sister does this all the time when we are out and it bugs the living crap out of me)

Mum pulls off

Mum imitates kid

Shot of the gimmick

Kid says hello to the gimmick

Car stops

Kid gets out

This all takes about twenty seconds and the car travels at most twenty miles an hour. It is one continuous shot.

NOW FOR THE MATHS BIT!!!!!

20 mph = 32ish Kmph

distance = speed X time

distance = 32 X (20/3600) = 0.17ish Km

THAT'S 170 METRES!!

UNDER A HALF OF A RUNNING TRACK!

HE COULDN'T HAVE WALKED THAT?!!

Lazy-ass-kid.

Rapture- Piece Of The People We Love

Saturday, March 17, 2007

I am watching a program called 'U2's greatest hits' on TMF (MTv's british Mini-me).

Here I was pleasently surprised to have an hour of tracks from a band whose music I generally like.

However it is presented in the format of a chart.

A chart like on the radio.

When the presenter talks over the song for half of it.

As this is TV the first half of every song is talking heads of 'celebrities' saying not much more than "these guys are amazing" and Bono basically saying "yup, we made this".

The last half is then completely dropped in favour of some statistics and an introduction of the next song.

"What's the point" comes to mind.

I'm having some trouble believing this is a real photo

One of the fundamental equations of the universe

I'm no physicist and an even worse mathematician, but after extensive but brief experimentation I give you this fundamental equation:

Me vs Taekwondo Master = Ouchy knee

Learn this well my friends.

Spending another afternoon on wikipedia

I've just come across a sentence in my meandering through the Generation articles that goes something like this:

"...they would have no memory whatsoever of the 20th Century and any predigital technologies still around in the Nineties."

I felt something close to a shiver running down my spine when I read that.

There is a fine line between genius and stupidity

The latest Sky Broadband advertises download speeds of up to 8 megabits(per second).

8 megabits(per second) equals 1 megabyte(per second), that's kind of the standard download speed of broadband nowadays, so long as your nearest town isn't three hundred miles away.

So, either Sky messed up the advert, or it's trying to sell something ordinary as something special.

P.S. At the last part of that final sentence I was going to say 'mutton dressed as lamb', when I checked on google whether the meaning was broad or specific one of the results returned numberous links to Carol Vorderman.

he estimated the Creation to have occurred on 23 October 4004 B.C.
