Trying to load a firewall onto my new laptop caused the thing to do the blue screen of death thing, restart, repeat.
The only solution I could find was to completely wipe the disk.
Though there wasn't anything irreplacable on the disk I had got quite far into a game of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, passed the awful flying school missions.
Now these have gone.
I'm not a happy bunny.
